At Kansas City Southern, our aim is to be the fastest-growing and most customer-friendly transportation provider in North America. Anastasia leads a financial services team that plays a crucial role in reaching our goal each and every day.
Anastasia joined Kansas City Southern in 2008 and has worked in a variety of roles in accounting, finance, business excellence, and operations support. Today she leads finance teams in the US & Mexico responsible for supporting KCS commercial decisions and profitability analysis.
“I’m most proud of developing a high-functioning team that does not define itself by a job description but rather by what is best for the company, its customers, and its stakeholders,” she said. “KCS employees have a can-do, entrepreneurial attitude. If you are willing to work hard and make a difference at any level, then KCS is the place for you.”
Keeping employees safe is one of our top priorities at KCS. Jessica makes sure that all operations employees in Mexico are trained to know the rules and laws that protect their personal safety and that they know how to transport freight safely and efficiently.
Jessica began her KCS career in 2010 as an assistant to the labor relations director in Mexico City. In 2018, after receiving her law degree, she helped establish a new operations training center and helped create comprehensive study manuals for train and engine employees. She’s also a member of the team that promotes gender diversity in operations.
“KCS supports diversity and professional development,” she said. “The company embraces innovation and technology, and offers stability and financial benefits. KCS encourages employees to be the best versions of themselves.”
Eddie has been with KCS a short time, but he’s already accomplished big things. Eddie leads a team that makes sure crews are available to operate trains and rail yards in the US and Mexico. He joined KCS in 2019 as a process improvement specialist and was promoted to his current role just a year later.
In 2020, his team managed unprecedented crew challenges due to the pandemic, but still contributed to one of the company’s best performing quarters in history.
“KCS is a strong company with an extremely bright future,” he said, “which generates plenty of opportunity for challenging careers and professional growth.”
Cristóbal is a tenured railroader, but he appreciates the opportunity to continue learning every day from his customers and co-workers on both sides of the border. He coordinates teams in the Customer Solutions Center and helps to provide solutions for terminal and industrial customers. One of his creative solutions actually prevented a plant shutdown that could have cost the customer millions.
“We have a positive work environment where people are treated like teammates, not just employees,” he said. “I credit this approach to the company’s success.”
